| When
Jerry
was five, he saw his father murder his mother. Martin was locked in a closet for weekends at a time while his father went on
drinking binges. Jasmine is blind in one eye as a result of a beating at the
hands of her mother for spilling a glass of milk. Carlye has small round scars
on her hands, feet & face, inflicted by her sexually abusive step-father, a
smoker. |

HELP · HEAL · HOPE · RAINBOW
As human beings, these stories shock
& disgust us. As
parents, we find them incomprehensible. And as members of our community, we
believe they happen somewhere else. But the truth of the matter is, child abuse
is on the rise in our country, as well as right here in Dane County. The
unspeakable happens every day to children all around us.
| You can help stop it.
You can heal a child.
You can restore
hope. |

Help Rainbow break the cycle.
Witnessing & experiencing violence between family members
can have a devastating effect on a child’s emotional development. They learn to
fear, not trust. They confuse love with anger & aggression. And often they
come to believe that they deserve to be treated as less than human. And if left
untreated, the cost to our society & our children is staggering.
 | Over 50% of abused children grow up to abuse or be
abused. |
 | Homicide is the leading cause of injury death for
children under age one. |
 | By puberty, 1 out of 7 boys
& 1 out of 4 girls will
be incest victims. |
 | Over 70% of our prison population were abused as
children. |
But the good news is, there is hope.
Children can be healed. Families can be restored. The cycle can be broken. |

Early intervention offers hopeful
outcomes.
The key is to intervene as early as possible.
The emotional & intellectual poverty that these children have been living in must be
replaced with a trusting & loving environment. At Rainbow Project, the goal is
to help reconstruct families, to create a safe & nurturing home life. To break
the cycle.
Rainbow specializes in restoring the childhood of infants
& children up to ten years of age. Rainbow clinicians provide prevention,
comprehensive assessment, treatment, evaluation & follow-up services. Services
for parents include individual & family counseling, parent education & support group sessions.
They provide a "corrective emotional
experience," fostering feelings of trust & safety, which allows a healthy
relationship with themselves & others to develop. |

BE PART OF THE ANSWER.
This kind of change takes time & a lot of hard
work. Rainbow lives up to the challenge by offering extensive treatment options
to families in severe need. Treatment length varies, but can last up to 2-3 years, as opposed to many
other treatment options that may only last six months. This gives the family
time to truly change, & grow together, with therapists available to help them
through the rough spots.
Children can heal. Families can change.
But help is critical. The Rainbow Project offers that help to children
& families in Madison & Dane County, every day. And right now, Rainbow Project needs your help.

How can you help give back a childhood?
Rainbow Project needs your help to heal children like Jerry, Martin,
Jasmine & Carlye. Each year, Rainbow helps over 100 families in crisis.
But at
any given time, several families remain on a waiting list. And critical
moments slip away.
Your donation to Rainbow
Project means more children will be healed,
faster. Children once crippled by pain, violence, grief, anger, fear &
misunderstanding can slowly learn to grow. To laugh. To love.
And you’ll know
your hope & support helped them get there.
Please, donate today to Rainbow Project Child
& Family
Counseling & Resource Clinic. As a private, non-profit social service
& mental health agency, your gift is tax deductible. And your dollars will touch
the hearts of untold children, both current & future. Your help can change the
world.
